Dr. James Rink

Dr. James Rink brings more than 35 years of combined leadership in manufacturing, education, and workforce development to the GT3 board. He currently serves as Program Director for the online Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and leads the university’s Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) Center. In this role, he works with companies nationwide to apply QRM principles that drive lead time reduction, improve responsiveness, and enhance operational competitiveness.

James began his career in global manufacturing, where he held senior leadership roles at Caterpillar Inc. and other industry leaders. His background spans product development, operations, strategic planning, and change management. He has also designed and delivered training programs for professionals and executives, focusing on systems thinking, continuous improvement, and time-based strategies for organizational excellence.

A passionate advocate for technical education and career pathways, James serves on several advisory boards and actively supports efforts to increase access to skilled trades and STEM fields. He is especially focused on empowering underrepresented and nontraditional learners.
